Artwork for Tania Rutland

Tania is a painter who lives in East Sussex, England. Where she moved to after graduating from the Royal College of Art.

Tania has exhibited extensively both in the UK and internationally. Her work is held in private collections in the UK, Europe, USA and Asia.

Specialising in oil paint, her work is semi abstract landscapes of Sussex and the beautiful South Downs countryside. Her work is concerned with the push/pull of representation and abstraction

Tania is fascinated with the way in which generations of human activity has shaped the landscape of the countryside. She is drawn to what is left behind through the consequence of human presence.

The imagery is a mixture of memory/remembrance, drawn or photographed features, to a source material of something more tangible and real, e.g. pattern or marks left behind from a deliberate application on to the surface of the paint.

It is the constant flux of weather and human presence that have shaped/formed these landscapes, that continually inspires Tania.

Tania joined Grand Image in 2024.
