Seattle photographer Amy Smith seeks to highlight the grace, sensuality and humor of her subjects. She has been in love with photography since her purchase of a garage-sale Nikkormat from the year she was born (the year was 1969). The birth of her daughters brought that love even closer to home. She is inspired by language, nature, and childhood.
A graduate of Wesleyan University with a Master of Arts from Stanford, Amy has lived and worked in St. Louis, Moscow, Paris, and Seattle.
Amy Smith's work has been presented in solo and group shows throughout the Northwest. Her pieces are in private collections throughout the US, and she is the first artist with a body of work in the permanent collection at Seattle’s headquarters of Amazon.com.
