joSon, born in the Philippines to a Filipino-Chinese mother and an African-American father, spent his formative years in a Vietnamese Buddhist temple, preparing to become a monk. Though he eventually left the temple, the meditative qualities of his early life profoundly influence his work as a photographer today. His images, whether of landscapes, portraits, or flowers, reflect a deep appreciation for the beauty found in simplicity, embodying a calm and tranquil spirit.
After moving to San Francisco, joSon earned his Master of Fine Arts in Photo-Illustration from the Academy of Art University.
