Artwork for Karen Ussery

As a recovering ìdo-aholic,î Karen's photography reflects the serene life she now lives. Karen's images capture the quiet, elegance and simplicity of nature's details, which we miss when speeding through life. Focusing on clean subjects and patterns, her intent is to create photographs which invite people to pause, contemplate, and feel their connection to the natural world. After 35 years in the Arizona desert, she still finds the growth patterns of cacti and succulents a compelling subject. Now that Karen lives in the Pacific Northwest, water makes its way into many of her images. Karen especially likes to make photographs reminiscent of Georgia O'Keefe's sensual, flowing blooms. In addition to shooting in nature, she creates images in the studio, isolating and lighting subjects to highlight form, texture and pattern.
Karen joined Grand Image in 2011.
