Ramon Vila was born in Olot, Spain in 1958. The first artist in his family, his special talent was recognized early; by the age of 15 he was accepted into the Escuela de Bellas Artes for three years of study. By the time he graduated, his studies of contemporary Catalan masters had developed into a passion for landscape painting. He then moved to Barcelona to pursue further studies, and his professional career.
Mr. Vila spends much of his time in observation, study and painting the effects of light throughout different times of the day and year. His rendering of these varied times and seasons in light and strong brushstrokes result in works of art that reflect the realism of that particular moment.
Mr. Vila has exhibited his work internationally, and his painting can be found in many private, public and corporate collections. He has received various honors for his work, as well as the respect of art lovers throughout the world.
