Artwork for Sharon Dowell

Sharon Dowell, a painter based in Charlotte, NC, discovered her passion for art at the age of three, nurtured by her supportive parents in suburban Houston, Texas. Her vibrant personality is reflected in her ever-changing fiery hair, a testament to her adventurous spirit. Moving to New York in her early 20s was a transformative experience, immersing her in the dynamic, multicultural energy of the city, which heavily influenced her work. Sharon's travels, particularly a 2009 arts grant trip to Iceland, expanded her artistic perspective, leading her to explore the intersection of urban life and nature, capturing the beauty in often overlooked structures and landscapes.

Sharon holds a BFA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and has work featured in prominent collections like the Ritz Carlton and The Federal Reserve Bank. Actively involved in her arts community, she has painted public murals, served as a grant panelist, and contributed to art auctions. Sharon is also a Gallery Director, curator, and guest juror, with exhibitions nationwide, including a solo show at Duke University. She now lives in Charlotte with her boyfriend Kelly, an orange sofa, and two cats, Aardvark and Elliott.

Sharon joined Grand Image in 2009.
