Artwork for Molly Cliff Hilts

Molly Cliff-Hilts is an artist whose intricate, delicate paintings are created using the ancient encaustic technique, involving blow torches and large wooden panels. Her work, crafted late into the night after her roles as a wife and mother, embodies the strength and resilience of its creator. Encaustic, originally used by ancient Greek fishermen to seal boats, is a fitting medium for her robust, textured art.

In 2000, Molly and her husband Dave began hosting salons in their restored 19th-century home in Portland, Oregon, where they bring together musicians, poets, and writers to foster creativity. Her work has been featured on Oregon Public Broadcasting's Oregon ArtBeat and in Pendleton Woolen Mills' Contemporary Artist Series. As a social alchemist, Molly is deeply involved in the Portland art scene, constantly promoting and supporting fellow artists.

Molly joined Grand Image in 2007.
