Artwork for Jennifer Bain

I draw inspiration from nature, a connection that began in my childhood. Growing up in New York City, my summers were spent on a rural island along the Atlantic coast, where I immersed myself in the swamps, woods, beaches, and ocean. This early bond with nature has shaped my artistic vision.

As an adult, I continue to explore the natural world through gardening and countryside hikes. My garden serves as a constant source of visual inspiration, deeply influencing my art. My paintings are visual narratives, presented in a sequence that mimics the experience of observing a place in fragments—each panel capturing a unique moment, much like a series of photographs.

I am fascinated by the interplay between the familiar and the abstract, creating works that invite personal interpretation. My compositions, akin to "visual poems," guide the viewer through shifts in description and metaphor, culminating in an open-ended experience.

Jennifer joined Grand Image in 2007.
