Tae Mook Jang, born in 1967 in Seoul, South Korea, is an award-winning landscape painter renowned for capturing the aesthetic and spiritual beauty of nature. His deep connection with the countryside, especially the serene landscapes of An-Dong, has inspired much of his work. Jang's formal art education began at the Seoul School of Fine Arts, where he studied Classical, Renaissance, and Impressionist paintings, as well as traditional Asian ink paintings. He further honed his skills at the prestigious Hong-Ik University, earning both a BFA and MFA. Despite his extensive training, Jang credits his firsthand experiences in nature as his most powerful teacher, with An-Dong serving as a recurring, almost spiritual, theme in his art.
In his work, Jang blends the fluidity of traditional Asian painting techniques with the challenges of modern landscapes on canvas, creating scenes that feel both earthly and transcendent.
