Artwork for Jaime Ellsworth

The uniqueness of each artist's vision and how they portray it is what's exciting to me about art. My vision and presentation starts with a simplification of reality. The process is reductive starting with essential forms then minimizing them to their bare elements. I concentrate on an emotion the initial drawing evokes and exploring and expanding on that feeling using color and contrast as its delivery.

I enjoy the tactile qualities of pastels and oil sticks as they enable me to make direct contact with the support, it is a real hands-on approach that is extremely satisfying in a physical sense.

Emotionally my paintings truly aren't meant to tell a story, it is more my intention to give the viewer a feeling rather than a knowing.

Jaime joined Grand Image in 2006.
