Artwork for Sang-Geun Cho

Sang-Geun Cho is intrigued by the loneliness and vanity of human beings. He writes: "Humans can be alive one minute and dead another, or go from life to death and back to life again." He has been exploring this conflicting cycle through several series of drawings. Sang-Geun uses delicate flowers, leaves, berries and nuts - particularly those that are blighted - to represent the tenuous state of being. His works are spare, dramatic, elegant and masterfully composed. The minimal characteristics of his materials - black and white acrylic paint, graphite and lead powder - further underscore the contemplative nature of his drawings.

Sang-Geun joined Grand Image in 2006.
