Artwork for Diana Tremaine

"As fascinated as I am by the parallels between the human and animal psyche, I am equally fascinated by the mystery, beauty and power of the individual mark made by brush, pencil, or otherwise. I like the history and “mood’ of psychological content of my images. I love the technique of monoprinting because of the gorgeous and unpredictable surprises you get that you could never plan. My images combine the spontaneity of monoprinting with the crisp lines and forms of etched images. I feel the contrast between the two techniques when used together heightens the interest of each respectively. I am very excited by color and texture and strive to push both in my monoprint “grounds.” The etched overlay images, namely chairs, bring a human element and presence to the otherwise abstract grounds on which they sit. As formal elements they allow me to anchor or balance the composition. I also adore pure, unadulterated line. Most of my straight etched images are done from quick gesture studies. I feel beautiful, responsive line can often say more about a subject than a fully rendered drawing."

Diana joined Grand Image in 2008.
