Artwork for Susan Hartenhoff

Susan Hartenhoff, born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, developed an early love for art, influenced by her father, a commercial artist. Her passion for both art and horses began in childhood, with her equestrian-themed paintings and drawings first gaining her recognition. Susan pursued formal art education at South Dakota State University, earning a BFA with an emphasis in printmaking, and later attended the University of South Dakota for her MFA. Her talent earned her an apprenticeship at Echo Press, where she honed her lithographic skills under master printer David Keister.

Inspired by nature, Susan's work reflects her deep connection to the outdoors, characterized by a palette of warm neutrals and touches of blues and greens. She continually explores new mediums, driven by her love of the natural world. Her art has been featured in several solo exhibitions and is included in private and corporate collections all over the world.

Susan joined Grand Image in 2008.
