Miguel Dominguez was born in El Paso, Texas in 1941. At an early age he moved with his family from El Paso to the Salinas Valley, on the Monterey Peninsula, where he spent his formative years.
His family encouraged his early art involvement. Growing up in a rather rural area enhanced his love the landscape including open spaces, wooded areas and rolling hills. Those early observations now reflect themselves in many of his paintings. Dominguez paints from childhood memories as well as from present experiences. His techniques are complex and result in scenes that are powerful and unique. There is gentleness to the work that reflects the essence of his being. Miguel Dominguez continues to live and paint on the Monterey Peninsula.
