"Gulf Oil Blue #1" by Campbell Laird Goes to a Great Cause
Grand Image artist Campbell Laird has been using eco friendly materials for the last few years, and had recently discovered new fine art paper made from Bamboo, a renewable resource. Knowing his interest in the environment, John Paul DeJoria, founder of Paul Mitchell hair products and Patron Tequila asked Laird to join his new endeavor called JP Selects, an online marketplace for products made using sustainable resources that donates portion of profits to social and/or environmental causes. As part of the initial launch, Campbell Laird donated a 30" x 40" bamboo print of Gulf Oil Blue #1, from a series of Gulf Imaginings depicting “oil and marine life intermingling at a micro level.” Campbell Laird's "Gulf Oil Blue #1" All profits from the June 16th auction went to support Grow Appalachia, a community gardening project designed to increase food production and bring communities together in Appalachia. This piece has also been selected as the cover to the International Artists Survey for 2011! Kuddos to Campbell Laird on his involvement with such a worthy cause!
